From Analog to Digital: Vibrant Mural in Washington, DC

Description: “From here to There” combines the changing tides of the news — black and white to color, analog to digital, with a menagerie of symbols, iconography, and suggestions to show what it means to live in the DMV.

The news may change its format, technology, its color, its branding, its bandwidth, its language, but the message is the same; truth and community. Yet it provides a constant foundation of honesty and quality.  Fine art too changes –  the artist tries new formats, canvases, paints, and techniques – all to the pursuit of truth. And that truth may be in the format of a question or it may be the answer; regardless of how we ask the public or ourselves, the medium is to ask it. The artwork is a nod to the power of togetherness and community.

The layout is an homage to vintage “American City” big lettering giftshop postcards. The color palette is derived from SMPTE color bars further abstracted with a flowing use of curvilinear lines, and curves. The work is painted with enamel, acrylic, pencil, and a clear coat.
